Roughly half of the Brazilan population self-identifies as white and the overwhelming majority of others identifiy as brown not black.
This is interesting in contrast with the USA where far fewer of us IMHO truly identify as an alloy of the "melting pot." I'm not sure whether more often in the future Americans will identify as "brown" or not.

What does it mean? It's so very puzzling.
